The schedules of La Liga’s title contenders
Barça lead the way but Atlético and Real Madrid are hot on the heels of the Catalans following back-to-back defeats
Until very recently, the league title looked certain to be heading in FC Barcelona’s direction as Luis Enrique’s side enjoyed a nine-point advantage over second-placed Atlético Madrid.
However, defeat in El Clásico last week and another against Real Sociedad on Saturday has seen Barça’s lead at the top cut to just three points.
With the margin so narrow, the remaining six matches for each side are well and truly under the spotlight as any slip-up from either of the contenders could prove pivotal.
In the run-in, Barça have three matches at home and three away. The teams who are set to visit Camp Nou are Valencia (Week 33) Sporting Gijón (Week 35) and Espanyol (Week 37). On the road, the Catalans take on Deportivo La Coruña (34), Real Betis (36) and Granada (38).
Four of Atlético’s last six games are at the Vicente Calderon, against Granada, Malaga, Rayo and Celta Vigo while they must travel to Athletic Club and Levante.
Real Madrid, in contrast, have just two home games remaining, against Villarreal and Valencia, and four matches on the road, against Getafe, Rayo, Real Sociedad and Deportivo.
Here is the full calendar of the remaining half-dozen matches for each side:
| WEEK 33 | FCB - Valencia | Atlético - Granada | Getafe - Madrid |
| WEEK 34 | Deportivo - FCB | Athletic Club - Atlético | Madrid - Villarreal |
| WEEK 35 | FCB - Sporting | Atlético - Malaga | Rayo - Madrid |
