Barça B suffered a narrow defeat at Miniestadi on Sunday against Atletic Balears which leaves them in 18th position in the league.
The home side had the majority of the ball in the opening half-hour of the game and looked more dangerous than their opponents. However, a lapse in concentration saw Atletic take the lead after 36 minutes, as Kike drilled the ball hard and low into the corner.
Moments after Ortolá made a fantastic double save to keep the game at a one-goal margin, the keeper was helpless to deny the visitors’ second of the game as David Prieto stole a march on the home defence to convert from a corner.
Barça continued to pursue a way back into the match and their patience paid off with just 12 minutes remaining as Grimaldo scored a wonderful free-kick. It proved to be too little too late as another defeat leaves them in 18th spot in the table with 14 points.
