Marta Torrejón, Ruth, Alexia, Olga and Jenni Hermoso help Spain to 4-1 win in Portugal

Alexia scores second goal that sets national team on perfect course for a place at Euro 2017 in Holland

Five Barça players were involved in Spain’s 4-1 win away to Portugal on Friday evening. Marta Torrejón, Ruth García and Alexia Putellas played all 90 minutes, while Jenni Hermoso was replaced after 65 minutes, the same moment that Olga García came on for former FCB player Marta Corredera. Goalkeeper Sandra Paños, however, spent the game on the bench.

Putellas scored Spain’s second goal after 40 minutes, converting an assist from Vicky Losada. The win leads Spain just a step away from qualification for the 2017 Euros in Holland. They are the unbeaten leaders of Group 2 with 15 points from 154 games, and their next game is against the Republic of Ireland on April 12.
