Rafinha extends contract until 2020
Midfielder, still recovering from a knee injury, describes the club as 'my home' after the announcement of his extended deal
First team player Rafael Alcántara, better known as 'Rafinha', signed a new contract with the Club on Monday that means he’ll be staying until 30 June 2020. His buyout clause has been set at 75 million euros. He was joined for the signing by FCB president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the vice-president for sport Jordi Mestre, and technical secretary, Robert Fernández.
The Brazilian midfielder is out of action at the moment as he battles to recover from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in the first Champions League game of the season at AS Roma.
After signing the deal, he told the press that “I’m very happy. It’s very nice to be enjoying this. Barça is my home. I came here when I was just 13 and I’m very happy to be here.” He also confirmed that he’s recovering quickly from his injury, as well as commenting on the team’s wonderful form of late. “When you bring the best players in the world together with hard work and consistency, these are the results you get” he said.
