MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo at the Camp Nou to support his beloved FC Barcelona
After watching the 6-1 defeat of Roma, the Mallorcan compares the current team to that of the Guardiola era
Jorge Lorenzo, the recently crowned World MotoGP champion and a huge fan of FC Barcelona was in the Presidential Box for Tuesday’s amazing 6-1 defeat of AS Roma in the Champions League. “It was a spectacular match” he said afterwards. “It’s been some time since I’ve been able to see the team.”
“We should be proud of them because they’re starting to play as well as in the Guardiola era, and that’s not easy to do” he continued, adding that he’d love to see the team win yet another treble this season.
The motorcyclist, who’s from the island of Mallorca and has often been seen with the Barça crest on his helmet, posted a picture of himself at the Camp Nou on social networks. “It got a lot more retweets than when I post pictures of bikes” he laughed. “It’s incredible how much movement there is around football.”
Meeting the players
Lorenzo got the chance to exchange some words with president Josep Maria Bartomeu and vice-president Manel Arroyo after the match, and then went down to the dressing room to greet the players. He took pictures with Rakitic, Neymar Jr, Suárez and Leo Messi, which he also shared on social networks.
“Messi has given so much to the Barça fans, just like Ronaldinho” said the 28 year old. “He’s still playing top quality football. He’s working hard on his game and his physique. We’re all happy to continue to have Messi in the team.”
