José Bautista realizes one of his dreams and visits Camp Nou, sees FC Barcelona first hand
The Dominican-born player spent a week in Barcelona, where he attended a training session and Barça's routs in both El Clásico at the Bernabéu and over AS Roma at Camp Nou
Ever since José Bautista became an FC Barcelona fan several years ago, one of his biggest dreams has been to attend a game at Camp Nou. Now, following a whirlwind week-long visit to Spain that took him to Barcelona, the Bernabéu and beyond, the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder and bat-flip extraordinaire has checked that box, and then some.
After meeting the players at the Ciutat Esportiva, Bautista went to the Spanish capital and caught the Catalans' rout of Real Madrid in one of the most electrifying El Clásicos in recent memory. Following a bief tour of the Penedès region of Catalan wine country to the south of Barcelona, Bautista then made his way back to the city to attend Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match between Barça and AS Roma, which the Catalans won handily, 6–1.
Earlier on Tuesday, though, Bautista made a morning visit to Camp Nou, where he sat down to talk with Barça TV and fcbarcelona.com.
"Leo Messi has been one of my favorite players for a long time," Bautista said. "But recently I've also been following Neymar and Luis Suárez a lot. They're great players and, now that I've met them, I've seen that they are great people too," he added.
Bautista also spoke about his experience at last week's El Clásico and how he follows the team from back in North America.
Take a look at the video for the highlights of what he had to say.
